WASTELAND
This commission by the Untitled Gallery (now Site) in Sheffield centred on an area of lush peat land called Thorne Moors. It was a place that was historically used for coal mining and peat gathering. At the time of this commission the peat was being extracted on an industrial scale although much of the area was protected and supported burgeoning plant and insect life.
